Ember — Privacy
Summary
Ember (formerly Sutts) stores your smoking-log data locally on your device. Premium AI features send anonymised summaries of your patterns to Google's Gemini API through our server. Sign-in is anonymous — no email, no name, no password. The full policy lives at habit-lens.web.app/privacy; this page is the short version.
What stays on your device
- Cigarettes you log (timestamp, mood, trigger, optional notes), your goals, and app settings.
- The on-device database is excluded from Google's automatic cloud backup — your logs are never silently uploaded to your Google account.
What leaves your device
- AI Coach (Premium, opt-in): the prompt you send — which may include a summary of your recent patterns — goes to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API and returns the answer. We don't retain prompts or responses beyond handling the request.
- Anonymous sign-in: a random anonymous ID (Firebase Authentication) so the Coach knows requests come from a real installation. No email or social account involved.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): stack trace, device model, OS version — used to fix bugs.
- Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics): aggregated, anonymous events like "onboarding completed". You can turn this off in Settings → Anonymous usage analytics.
What we don't do
- No advertising SDKs, ever.
- No selling or sharing data with third parties.
- No collection of your name, email, phone number, or contacts.
Your rights
Delete everything from inside the app (Settings → Delete my data) — this wipes your device data and your anonymous account. Uninstalling removes all local data too. You can export your full log as CSV any time.
Children's privacy
Ember is intended for adults who smoke or vape. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that threshold applies).
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated date above will change. Material changes will be flagged in the app.
